Court marriage in Pakistan is a legally recognized union conducted under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, allowing couples to marry through a simple and lawful procedure without traditional rituals. It involves the submission of CNIC copies, passport-sized photographs, affidavits of free will, and two adult witnesses before a marriage registrar or family court. The Nikah is solemnized by a licensed Nikah Khawan, and a legal marriage certificate (Nikahnama) is issued immediately. Court marriage is especially preferred by couples seeking privacy, legal protection, or freedom from cultural constraints, and is fully valid under Pakistani law for both citizens and overseas Pakistanis.
