Relevant data from various sources within the organization, such as transactional systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other sources, is collected and consolidated.

In order to support managerial decision-making, the process of gathering, analyzing, and presenting data in an organized way is referred to as MIS Reporting, also known as Management Information System reporting. MIS reports include information about a company's performance, operations, and financial health, among other things. Typically, these reports are produced daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly at predetermined intervals.
